Raising money for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide and Dementia UK

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Wave Chasers are a group of close friends and family with a collective love of swimming; adventure and supporting some fantastic causes! Not least we all love a good challenge!!

What was a seemingly far fetched idea conjured up by two friends a few years ago… a little gentle nudging of others and A LOT of training and preparation later… we’re now a few months away from taking on one of the biggest challenges of our lives to raise money for these wonderful charities - the causes which they support having touched us all.

In particular as we remember Ellie.

Ellie Stylianou , passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday 6th March 2024. Ellie was a loving Daughter, fiance, sister, auntie, colleague & friend.

Detective Constable Ellie Stylianou was a popular and charismatic detective in the (CID) main office at North Area BCU in the Metropolitan Police Service. Ellie served the MPS from March 2022. Ellie was a bubbly, energetic character and never failed to make anyone smile. When you walked into the office, you would be drawn to her. Ellie was a social butterfly and you would always find her laughing or chatting with someone in the office. She was always willing to offer help and support to her colleagues and her sense of humour and loving personality was infectious to everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her.

In Ellie’s memory a team of 7 of us will be attempting to swim the English Channel from Dover to France as a relay team. Taking it in turns to tackle 21 miles, one hour each at a time, in rotation, until we arrive in France!

We SO appreciate your support, not just financial, but your words of encouragement mean so much!

This hasn’t been an easy ride for the team. We’ve had injuries, team member swaps, uncertainty and LOTS OF BEING COLD!! 🥶

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who’s supported us thus far. We’re SO SO grateful and hope to do you all proud 🙏
