Story
We are proud to announce that we have raised £898 in total (Inc cash donations) for the SS Great Britain Trust!
The SS Great Britain Trust is one of Bristol’s most beloved museums, housing the iconic heritage ship the SS Great Britain.
They have challenged us to Go Aloft! and raise crucial funds to help them open a new museum which will put Bristol’s communities at the heart of the story. Through working with community researchers from across the city, the SS Great Britain Trust is taking everything out of the current Dockyard Museum and completely starting again to create space that reflect the values of our city. The new museum will take visitors on a journey across the world following voyagers as they created new lives abroad, the sailors and crew who chartered the magnificent ship and the engineers who kept it running as they circled the globe 32 times!
The challenge itself is to climb up the SS Great Britain rigging 80ft into the air where there is a viewing platform offering panoramic views across Bristol and the harbour. We will then traverse 9m out across the harbour along the main yard of the SS Great Britain.
