Story
Thanks for supporting our fundraising!!
When Laura was diagnosed in 2021, it was a Macmillan Breast Care Nurse who picked her up and talked her through the diagnosis the Doctor had just delivered. It was the same Macmillan Nurse who told her..."I wouldn't do this job if we didn't have the success rates we do!" During those first very scary months post diagnosis, they were on the other end of the phone to answer any question however big small or insignificant they seemed. They were there to put Laura's mind at rest during the scariest moment of her life.
During treatment, Laura attended the Macmillan centre inside Wythenshaw hospital and received complimentary massages, as well as a make up course (similar to book good feel better) which made her feel fantastic, during a time chemotherapy was ravaging her body. They picked her up and this time gave her the tools to make her feel better.
Post treatment, it was Macmillan who offered Laura eight free session of therapy to help figure out how her world got turned upside down. Plus the Macmillan nurses will continue to offer support Laura for the next FIFTY years! As she goes for yearly check ups. They are there in the hospitals with so much compassion and experience and all of this was free!! All funded by this incredible charity - it shouldn't be funded by a charity it should be part of the NHS but as it stands we need to keep fundraising for them.
Laura, Becky and Julia have been friends since school and are part of the "Five Gold Rings" watsapp group with their two other friends. These three (Three French Hens) want to give back to Macmillan to say THANK YOU for all you have done to support our friend this last year by raising lots of cash!! They will be taking part in the Peak District Ultra Challenge - walking 25k over a day through Bakewell, Chatworth House (Laura's favourite place!!) and 650m elevation back to Bakewell on Saturday 8th July!
Here's some further information about Macmillan - Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
During this difficult time, with cost of living at an all time high we understand you can't always give what you want to but if you could give what you can it would be really appreciated!
THANK YOU!
