We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

In June, a small team of friends, a band of brothers perhaps, are taking part in what is sure to be an extremely tough physical and mental challenge with huge ups and downs ahead and that's not the hills! in an attempt to raise awareness and money for 2 charities who both support those with cancer in their own way, an illness which sadly seems to be very close to all our hearts during some point. The initial thought was that Joe, an experienced marathon runner would run the first 100km leg, Dave, an experienced cyclist would cycle the 100 mile return leg and Adam, an experienced idiot would do both! This soon evolved into where we are now, which is the 3 of us plus Mike and Grant taking on the lot together and we are sure there will be many more donning lycra or running shoes to complete some of the event with us also. So what exactly are these 5 slightly mad people doing? We are running 100km and cycling 100 miles in June, across 2 days between Pickering and the Yorkshire Dales to support or in honor of, those who are fighting or have lost their battle with this illness including people very close to us, in particular Dave's wife, Marie who very sadly lost her battle with cancer at the end of 2020 and Dave Ludlow and Tony Tinegate, 2 of Adam's close friends who are both fighting with this illness currently and of course the many other people that we know and love who are or who have battled with this illness.

Joe previously ran with Adam in a cross country marathon last year raising money for Young Epilepsy and his support for this was never really in doubt given what a superb human being he is, bringing so much more to this then just a pair of legs. It will be a privilege to do something like this with him once more.

Having Grant and Mike on board is a huge boost, they both bring experience and support to the team, Mike decided to join the team having been touched by the stories that you can read below and wanted to do what he can to help raise awareness and additional fund raising for the charities and Grant has his own story to tell having seen his Dad take on this illness and win the fight, he clearly enjoys a challenge and played a big part in helping with the organisation of last years Young Epilepsy event. Please take a look at the pages below and if you are able to donate and help the charities who work tirelessly to support those affected by this terrible illness or to hopefully one day find a cure then please do. There are 2 pages within this team to have a look at, each with a personal story, you can donate to one, the other or both, the choice is yours Dave, Adam and Joe thank you all for your support.
