Story

Doddie's Triple Crown is the 2026 edition of Rob Wainwright's epic annual cycling challenge to raise funds for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.

Day 1: Melrose to Leeds

Day 2: Leeds to Gloucester

Day 3: Gloucester to Pembroke(overnight ferry to Ireland)

Day 4: Rosslare to Dublin

Seven friends, cycle 800 miles, for one legendary cause. From the shadows of the Eildon Hills to the heart of Dublin, a race against time and terrain to honour a titan of Scottish Rugby. The journey begins in Melrose, the home of Sevens. The sweeping beauty of the Borders. Blisters, mechanical failures, and brutal climbs over the hills will not deter us. Through the heart of England, Wales and Ireland we’ll be driven on by Doddie’s legacy—his humour, his resilience, and his fight against MND, to the Emerald Isle and a finish at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin

We are delighted to announce SlanjEvents are our main sponsor for the team. SlanjEvents deliver bespoke and interactive whisky festivals across the country with large events in Clackmannanshire, Dundee and Edinburgh. They are passionate supporters of MNDF raising over £26,000 for the foundation through their events to date.

The SlanjEvent Trogs are:

Alan Manson: The Orchestrator. The man with the map and the relentless drive to keep the pace.

Dougie Vipond: The Voice. Bringing humour and a bit of "Sportscene" polish to the grit of the road.

Dave Russell: The Grit. The one who pushes through the "dark miles" when the legs start to fail.

Barry McPherson: The Engine. Steady, reliable, and always ready with a tactical adjustment.

Ewan Graham: The Heart. Keeping spirits high when the Irish Sea wind hits.

Mhairi Mackechnie: The Steel. Proving that the road doesn't care who you are, only how hard you pedal.

Mark Carberry: The Anchor. Ensuring no Trog is left behind.
