Story

Sally, Tanya, Lisa, Andrea and Simon are taking on The National Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales and we would like to achieve this within 24 hours! Our driver, who will be helping us to achieve this challenge, is Julian.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. The total driving distance is 462 miles.

The three mountains are:

Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)

Scafell Pike, in England (978m)

Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1345m)

We are all taking on this challenge in aid of three charities, that we feel passionately about. Please read below to find out why we have chosen the causes that we have.

Our whole team would like to support all of these charities. We don’t mind who you choose! ;-)

Please select the hiker name by the charity you would like to support the most, or indeed donate to all!

As part of our 3 peaks challenge I wish to support the work of World Vision in Ukraine. World Vision are a charity who protect vulnerable children and are working alongside the DEC to help children who are fleeing the conflict and also those that remain in Ukraine. We have been fortunate to meet some of the refugees who have arrived in our area and heard their stories of courage and bravery. The children who have arrived here are so sad to leave their wider families, and yet still full of life. We would love to be able to do something towards facilitating those that want to leave, and protecting those that have to stay.

The UN estimates over 2 million people have fled Ukraine, but numbers are likely to rise as the conflict intensifies. Children will bear the brunt of this crisis. Your donation today can help provide children and families searching for a safe haven with hygiene kits, protection and psychosocial support - including child friendly spaces.

My mum Joyce, sadly lost her 10-year fight with PSP and passed away February 2021. During the latter stages of the illness communication was extremely difficult so we relied upon face to face visits. As my parents live in Oxfordshire and amid the Covid lockdowns, visits to her care home were not allowed. Not even for my father. At the time of her passing, family members could only visit individually. And some of her children did not even get the chance to say goodbye. Circumstances which unfortunately have become far too familiar to many of us.

PSPA is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). We provide information and support for people affected by PSP & CBD whilst funding research into the causes, treatment, and eventually a cure. Together we can stop PSP & CBD in their tracks.

Tanya and Lisa

Finally all of our hiking team have children in the final year at Trull Primary. We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the school for providing our children with a wonderful start in life, both educationally and emotionally. Fund-raising is always a challenge for schools, and we’d like to 'do our bit' in helping the school continue to provide children in the area with all the benefits our children have so enjoyed.

Please join us in donating to make this happen.
