Story

Welcome to the Two Barmy Bassets' team page!

Hi! We are the 'Two Barmy Bassets', otherwise known as the very enthusiastic mum and daughter running duo Sue Parry and Rachael Sutton! We are running together for the RSPCA's Team Animal in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on April 3rd, 2022.

As if running a half marathon isn't enough of a challenge, we will be taking part as our two beloved Basset dogs, hence the name “The Two Barmy Bassets”! Sue’s dog was a beautiful Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen called Lucy who sadly passed away at age 14 ½ a few months after we decided to enter the half marathon. Rachael’s dog is a gorgeous 1-year-old Basset Hound pup called Barney, and the two dogs were great friends and co-conspirators in the short time that they knew each other. Barney really looked up to his “Auntie Lucy” and was tireless in trying to get her to play with him each time they met!

It seemed obvious for us both to run together as the two great “furry friends” Lucy and Barney for the charity which works so hard to improve animals’ lives.
