Team fundraising for Dallaglio RugbyWorks

Raising money for Dallaglio RugbyWorks

Dallaglio RugbyWorks helps young people who are facing considerable personal challenges and additional barriers in education or future employment. We use the values of rugby to empower marginalised teenagers, at risk of being left behind by society, to aspire for and achieve a better future.

Story

Every year, over 9,400 young people are permanently excluded from school. This equates to around 40 per day.

To mark this number, Simon Dent and Todd Liubinskas will run over 40 miles a day over two weeks. Covering the distance between Brisbane and Sydney, the homes of the first and third Lions Test in 2025.

Running across two states, these three incredible sportsman will be passing by local rugby clubs and community centres, to spread the Lions legacy and encourage local people to get involved with the 2025 Lions Tour.

Young people will support this fundraising event, creating engaging content which tells the stories of the runners, the Lions, and local young people. This is all in aid of raising money for disadvantaged young people in the UK who otherwise get little chance in life.

Lawrence Dallaglio, who ran out three times for the Lions, created RugbyWorks to use rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship to equip young people who are excluded from education, with the life skills and attitudes they need to move into sustained Education, Employment or Training after school. He said: “No one should underestimate the magnitude of the challenge Simon and Todd are taking on to raise much needed funds for RugbyWorks, I cannot express my admiration and gratitude enough to them.”
