Raising money for St John Ambulance

During the COVID-19 outbreak, St John is actively supporting ambulance services, hospitals and communities to protect life and health through this worrying and uncertain period.

Story

The Sussex Homeless Service team is made up of nurses, podiatrists, first aid trainers and community support workers. Some are staff; most are volunteers.

We provide specialist, experienced and accessible healthcare and advocacy to homeless people, those in temporary accommodation and people with complex needs in Brighton and Hastings. The service has continued throughout the pandemic.

Brighton has for years been the local authority with the second highest rate of homelessness in the country, while Hastings has seen some of the biggest increases in rough sleepers in the UK in recent years.

Between us, we’re walking the 40 miles along the coast from Hastings to Brighton on Sunday 19th July, to raise money for St John Ambulance, which has been severely hit financially by Covid-19, and to raise awareness of homelessness in the two locations.

Some of us will be walking a few miles; some will be walking 20+ miles, but between us the whole distance will be covered.

We’d be so glad if you could sponsor us, with whatever you can afford. Thank you.
