Story
The ‘Weegie Walkers’ (as Lindsey and I are now known 😂) are taking on the 23 mile ‘Mighty Stride’ in the Glasgow Kiltwalk in April in the hope we can raise lots of money for Teenage Cancer Trust!
Teenage Cancer Trust are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. They fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.
I have a very personal reason to support this charity in particular. A routine ‘you’ve had that cough too long’ scan for my daughter in 2023 revealed a shadow that was later diagnosed as a chondrosarcoma. She has since endured multiple scans, consultations and major thoracic and plastic surgery all whilst continuing to work hard at university to become a physiotherapist to eventually take care of others and help them in their recovery.
Thanks to an amazing team of NHS surgeons, consultants, radiologists, phlebotomists, nurses (and everyone in between!) and the support from Teenage Cancer Trust, she battled through and recovered.
I know my daughters story is not unique; sadly far from it, and others never recover. And that’s why it is really important to do what you can when you can. So we will commit to our crazy marathon training plan, and walk a long way in the April elements, and if you can please give what you can - from a penny to a pound - and help the ‘Weegie Walkers’ to achieve the charity fundraising target we’ve set for ourselves it would be truly wonderful.
With the biggest thanks we can give you, Lindsey and Claire ❤️ 🙏🏻
