Whitelaw Wells Abseiling for SBH Scotland

Raising money for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland

Edinburgh Distillery Abseil 2025 · 10 May 2025 to 11 May 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

A brand new experience for SBH Scotland supporters! An abseil off the tallest whisky distillery in the world! It’s our best event yet, it’s the Port of Leith Distillery Abseil! This is the first time this event has ever been done by anyone!

Story

You read that right. On 10th May 2025, a fearless (and possibly slightly crazy) team of eight is taking on the thrilling challenge of abseiling down the iconic Port of Leith Distillery – a daunting 100ft drop! While we’re not exactly fans of heights, we’re doing this for an incredibly important cause: Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland).

We’re pushing through our nerves to help raise awareness and funds for individuals living with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. These conditions affect movement, growth, and development, and each person’s experience is unique. The work of SBH Scotland is absolutely crucial in improving the quality of life for those living with these conditions by providing specialist support, advocating for their rights, and funding vital research.

So, while we’re up there, clinging to a rope and hoping we don’t scream too loudly, we’ll remember that we’re doing this to make a real difference for people facing challenges we can only begin to imagine.

£10 - could send an information pack on spina bifida and hydrocephalus to a new family.

£100 - could help towards 10 young people with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus to enjoy an evening bowling or similar social activity, and help reduce social isolation.

£250 - could help towards the Association subsidising a holiday for a family affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus in a wheelchair accessible cottage, often allowing a child with the disability to experience life in the.

Our Goal: We’ve set an ambitious target of £1,600 (£200 each) to support SBH Scotland’s amazing work. We know we can do it with your help, so please dig deep and donate today!

How You Can Help: Please consider donating to our page today. Every penny counts, and no donation is too small. If you’d like to support us in other ways, feel free to leave words of encouragement on our page or share our fundraiser with your network.

We truly appreciate your support in helping Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland continue its vital work. We can’t wait to face this challenge knowing that we’re making a difference!

Meet the team:

Amy Gray (Currently weighing the odds of abseiling a 100ft drop without screaming)

Andrew Cromar (Practicing his “I’m totally in control” face)

Claire Phoenix (Wondering if it's too late to back out and take the photos instead)

Euan Stronach (Imagining himself as an action movie star hanging off a skyscraper)

Megan Burns (Hoping there’s a VIP lounge at the bottom for a quick recovery)

Rachel Hollingsworth (Mentally preparing for the “I’m not scared at all” face)

Steven Buik (Thinking about the best way to land gracefully—while screaming, of course)

Will Tweedie (Researching "abseiling fails" for the ultimate motivation)

Date of Abseil: 10th May 2025

Location: Port of Leith Distillery, Edinburgh

Help us reach our goal and overcome our fears—while supporting a cause that truly matters!
