Story
Following the passing of Mike Whiteside, it is with great sadness that his family find themselves setting up this charity fundraising page.
The three charities below would each have their own meaning to Mike.
The Harlequins Foundation carries out outreach activities with young people and organisations; work similar to the activities that Mike would have been involved in throughout his lifetime. He always believed in teaching the next generation and could often be found training young people in any sport he could, not just to be great players, but to be respectful and responsible members of the community they represent.
Mike received exemplary care from the various teams at the Imperial Hospitals he attended, especially the Vascular Team, and in his last days, the ICU. The teams there treated all of his family with the greatest of empathy, care and respect and they would really love to be able to show that gratitude by donating to the hospitals.
Mike played rugby to a high level, and he was incredibly proud to be part of the rugby community. He was a big believer in how rugby family would always support each other. The RFU Injured Players Foundation is an organisation that helps those injured through playing rugby.
If you feel you can contribute to any of these, in any small way, we would be extremely grateful and Mike would be too.
Thank you.
