Raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians and Alsama Project

Story

After a couple of years out through illness, Annie and I are re-entering the charity bike ride arena cautiously, with a 20 mile cycle in the Quantocks. I’m doing the cycling and she is driving the support vehicle, assisted by our grandson Max. (Full disclosure, I may use an e-MTB).

We are supporting two charities

One is the Alsama Project, which does lots of good work in refugee camps in the Middle East and one of whose current flagship ideas is bringing cricket to women in Syria.

This particular project was recently written up by Mike Atherton in The Times and, if it is technologically within my capabilities, I will post a link to his article here.

We are also raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) This is not political, but recent events have made the lot of many innocent Palestinian people even worse than previously and their access to good quality medical care has become very problematic. MAP is one of a number of charities that provides this care. Annie and I know MAP well, we know some of their fundraisers and their doctors personally, and are confident that money donated to MAP will be well used by them for needy people.

Clicking on “Give Now” takes you to a page which lets you choose between our Alsama and our MAP fundraising pages. I’m sorry it’s so complicated, but that’s the way Justgiving works. Whichever you choose, we are very grateful.
