The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

Despite huge logistical and financial challenges, the Cardinal Hume Centre is managing to keep its hostel open, helping 37 young people to stay safe and off the streets. Every single day they have front-line staff working 24 hours, running everything from cookery lessons to mental health workshops. Very hard to social distance in that environment, but it is vital work that has to continue. And we can help them by partaking in The 2.6 Challenge.

From Sunday 26 April, the day when the London Marathon would have taken place, the whole of the UK has been fundraising using activities based around the numbers 2.6 and 26. Charities are missing out on funds from that 26 mile race, and this initiative helps to fill those fundraising gaps. Whilst hundreds of charities nationwide are taking part, the Cardinal Hume Centre will be sole recipient of our fundraising.

This, our 2nd, wellbeing challenge is running from May 4th to May 8th. Suggested ideas include: run 2.6 miles, 26 press-ups, a 2.6 minute plank, 26 minutes of yoga, name 26 countries in Africa or Asia, recite 26 phrases in Latin, rap 26 lines of Shakespeare, design 26 paper aeroplanes, recite the alphabet backwards in under 26s...or dream up any activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 (or 260, 2600, 26000...).

Join in, be creative, get active, have fun & donate to a great cause.

Below, a reminder of previous collaborations with the centre. The first photo was the day we unveiled the room we sponsor (earmarked for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children). The second photo captures the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Games Room funded by our Christmas Fair.
