Thank you for your donations so far guys!

There are 1.6 million people in the UK affected by an eating disorder. These illnesses have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric condition and up to 20% may die.

We have chosen to run Hell Runner 2012 and raise money for beat as a close family friend is currently battling anorexia nervosa. Her determination to get her life back on track and to beat her eating disorder is the same determination we need to complete the race.

Chosing recovery and speaking out about her eating disorder took courage and stength, but the battle she faces in recovery is a long, tiring and draining. Every run we go on in training is as tough and tiring as every meal is to her. As she eats again, we run.

We are aiming to raise £2000 to help support the charity

Why £2000 we hear you say? Well, 2000 is the number of calories the average female should consume to maintain a healthy weight.

Let's get to 2000 and prove that if we can raise £2000, then Sarah and everyone else battling with an eating disorder can try their best to get to the healthy number of calories. Good deal, huh?

beat is the only UK wide charity supporting people affected by eating disorders and campaigning on their behalf. Their vision is that eating disorders will be beaten. beat is the first port of call for anyone who is affected by an eating disorder, adult or young sufferer, family member, friend or the profesional supporting them.

Early intervention is crucial in saving lives and beat can provide the first contact to guide and support people in accessing the treatment they need. The charity is in direct contact with over 100,000 people a year through its helplines, messageboard and text services which all require funding.

beat also run conferences and eating disorders traininig events for healthcare professionals and GPs.

£10 enables beat to give a sufferer the opportunity to talk to a support worker

£250 enables beat to train a helpline worker

£1000 can be used to allow beat to expand our research into eating disorders, their causes and ways and potentional help prevent them
