Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 11th March, we will be walking the 14 miles from the Royal Marsden in Chelsea to the Sutton branch to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, to give something back, in honour of Lucy.
We are so grateful for the care given to Lucy by the wonderful staff at the Royal Marsden throughout her battle with cancer, which began in 2008 when she was 2 years old. Lucy had 9 months of treatment for stage 3 Wilms Tumour, a form of kidney cancer. Around her 4th birthday, 6 months after finishing treatment, cancer was found in her lungs. Lucy was given aggressive treatment for another 9 months. Lucy has had many operations, courses of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, a stem cell transplant and countless blood transfusions. She has been in remission since the end of 2010 and is closely monitored for signs of recurrence and side-effects of treatment.
More research and development is being done to make initial cancer treatments more effective, to cure more people and reduce long term side-effects e.g. damage to heart, lungs, fertility etc
