Team Gorgeous: Helen Bunce, El Buick, Rhona Raeburn, Lesley Harrison-youngest!

Hi everyone,

                 Team Gorgeous invite you to sponsor them to cycle for Marie Curie from London to Amsterdam from 28-30th August 2009 a distance of 278km...including an overnight ferry sait from UK to Holland..before you ask!!

Helen being away ahead of herself has previously emailed you asking for sponsorship, this was before we decided to raise funds as TEAM GORGEOUS and some of you have already donated via the original web page...don't worry that money has already been forwarded to Marie Curie. so, she would like if you could sponsor via this page.

We haven't started training yet..but too cold for our wee tootsies at the moment, but soon we'll be on the canalbank and recognising every blade of grass between Glasgow and Edinburgh and knowing the Falkirk Wheel from every angle.

Nearer summer we'll be organising a fundraising event at Rhona's flat and would invite you to consider coming along to this, details to follow.

later:- still no cycling to report! Lesley has a broken clavicle and is out the game for the moment! Hopefully soon we will all be fit and well and out on the bikes!

25th March: some training started, Rhona and I did 25 miles on Arran in February, needless to say it was very cold and very wet at points, El and I cycled round Cumbrae twice ...21 miles..and Rhona did a couple of 20+ miles over last weekend. Unfortunately Lesley is still waiting for clearance from the doctor to drive nevermind cycle...

Weather had started to improve and cycling to work looked like a possibility but then it turned on us again!

Thanks again to those who have already sponsored us...only £4000 to go!

1st May: various bits of training have been going on: round trip to falkirk wheel from anniesland for el & helen, 3 lochs tour near dunkeld for rhona & helen.

Lesley's clavicle is still not 100% and she hasn't been on her bike...

our fundraising day is on Sat 9th May 2-6pm, we're having a tea party at rhona's....would be good to see you there...please email me if you hope to come on hbunce@ntlworld.com

so far we have raised £1707, thanks to all who have contributed.

Sadly Lesley has had to withdraw from the bike ride as her clavicle is not up to cycling yet......

         serious training is now underway! El & Helen cycled 56 gruelling miles to Luss and back on Saturday...after almost 6 cycleless weeks H found the last 5 miles rather harrowing! Her nerve of course having been shattered by witnessing El career into a wall at speed...thankfully no breakages but much bruising....the bike is ok!  El is cycling most days and H is trying to so so too..Rhona has just come back from holiday but will be full steam ahead soon...

 

we're continuing with our training with big trips being undertaken every Saturday by some combo of the team or all of us...we're now clocking up an average of 60+ Scottish miles..i.e. lots of hills.....
