We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Jo and I are running the Richmond Half-Marathon in September in memory of David Griffiths, who passed away in February 2013, and to raise money for CALM. This is Jo's first half, and my 2nd, so it's going to be a great challenge for both of us!

A bit about CALM:

Suicide is the single biggest killer of young men in this country. In 2012 there were 6,005 suicides in the UK, of which 77%, 4639, were male. The Campaign Against Living Miserably exists to prevent it.

CALM offer immediate support to men who are down or in crisis via their national helpline, challenge a culture that prevents men seeking help when they need it and change mindsets so that men feel able to ask for help without feeling less of a man for doing so.

The charity runs a free, confidential and anonymous helpline (0800 585858, 5pm – midnight, everyday) for men who are looking for support or information. Their website contains articles and information to inspire, support and entertain and they also have a free men's lifestyle magazine, CALMzine, which is distributed throughout London.

Any donations you can give us would be greatly appreciated. I know a lot of you have already given generously to CALM over the last few years so thank you for that - any more pennies would go a long way :)

Thank you so much!

Love the Maxteds xx

P.S. supporters/cheerers/food providers/massagers welcome ;)
