Its time to get busy for Menphys!  We are hoping to raise money by running the London marathon 2012.  This is no mean feat!  Sarah Hind is a running newby with 2 half marathons under her belt in 2009 and running in her 40th year!  Sarah Vann is a 'slow' Half marathon veteran but a total Marathon novice!  Rachel Vann has done London before many moons ago and is now  up against new challenges having to train in the seering heat of the middle east.  James Brooke ran London in 2010 and is now looking to set new personal challenges.

All this blood sweat and tears is going to be worth it.  we all have one goal.  to raise money on behalf of Betty for Menphys. 

Betty, aged 16months suffered global brain damage after stopping breathing for almost 10minutes.  Everyone who knew her couldnt imagine how things would change for her and her family and  alltheir friends.  Betty was blind, deaf and immobile.  One of the 1st people to meet the family in hospital was Lynne.  meeting Lynne was, in hindsight, life enabling.  Throughout assessments, referrals and decision making through the years to come it was the support of Menphys that made things clearer.  they supported the family and Betty alike.  To see Betty so happy at their specialist nursery using all their experience and knowledge ensured some normality.  The summer schemes which allowed both Betty and her sister Charlotte to attend together and share experiences and memories were well provided and organised.

Everything they did cannot ever be repaid in equal measure but if Teammenphys  can only ensure that we raise enough to ensure other families facing life changing experiences have Menphys support, that would be amazing. 

I cannot tell you how my life seem to end that day. My little girl left and with it the routine we once knew.  I cannot explain the pain in the expression of the faces of people who knew her.  I cannot explain how we managed to stay positive.  I cannot tell you how Betty managed to keep smiling all day every day despite everything.  I can tell you that for the few who can explain they too know how invaluable Menphys are to all those children.
