Story
The "Sob Story/Please, give us your money" bit
Team Montes have done a lot of running over the years but their place in the London Marathon has always been an elusive beast that has avoided them year after year.
Euclides, the older half of the Team, started a rather body-crunching and soul-crushing treatment a few months ago and whilst effectively prostrated at home, taking time off work to recuperate, as it is written by The Law of Sod, Team Montes were finally given their chance to run the marathon.
After loads of careful consideration, discussions with doctors, assurances to concerned parents/partners/friends and family, Team Montes have decided to run the London Marathon in April 2014!
And we're running in aid of Crisis, so we'll be asking, begging, and pestering (mostly unabashedly pestering!) everyone we know (and even those we don't know. We have no sense of shame) to help us raise some much needed funds for this wonderful charity that does great work throughout the UK.
In exchange for your hard-earned cash, Euclides pledges to train through the remainder of his treatment, which rest assured, won't be a walk in the park. And Diego pledges to train for 1 1/2 people in preparation for the inevitable moment on race day when he will have to carry Euclides over the last few miles.
Your cash will make a world of difference for homeless people in the UK. For some of the work Crisis do, have a look at their Christmas appeal. Euclides will be volunteering for a third Christmas in a row and will be doing a few overnight shifts at one of the shelters this year again, including a 13 hours shift on Boxing Day night. And Diego will be volunteering for them for the very first time this year.
Please give generously. Every £1 or £100 will make a massive difference to people's lives.
Thanks.
