Story
Thanks for visiting the Team Parker page!
A few weeks after his first birthday little Parker Royle was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer affecting fewer than 60 children in the UK each year. Over the past three months he has endured seven seperate chemotherapy sessions in an effort to beat this terrible disease. These sessions leave him feeling weak and poorly though he still manages a few smiles and is endlessly charming with the nurses!
As the treatment fights the cancer cells it also kills healthy blood cells which leaves Parker open to infection, so far Parker has undergone two blood transfusions to replace the destroyed cells with healthy ones but he may need more. Donating blood is the single most important way you can help, closely followed by supporting Alder Hey. Please cosider donating blood; Parker has to endure endless needles but he needs you to just be brave once.

Parker catches illnesses and infections so easily when his immune system is down that even tiny airborne bacteria can make him seriously ill and he is often kept in isolation. Any parent can imagine how difficult it is keeping a child entertained in a 10ft x 10ft space for several days, even without what Parker is going through. Whether he is in isolation or on a ward Alder Hey work tirelessly to keep Parker and his family comfortable, informed, entertained and well-fed while they are making him better. This is another way you can show your support for Parker and his family.
£5 can provide paints for an Arts and Crafts session
£10 can provide musical instruments for a music session
£50 can provide meals for 10 parents at the end of a difficult day and before a sleepless night on a pull down camp bed.
£100 can provide play equipment for outdoor play equipment in dedicated areas.
Alder Hey are also working to install a state of the art facility giving families access to the internet, films, Skype and electronic games movies and centrally stored games. At the same time, clinicians will use the units to access the child's medical records, making the bedside a truly digital environment when they are confined to bed.
They are also planning on giving children ways to personalise the room which will be their home for several months and improving the beds and cots throughout the hospital.
Thank you for visiting the Team Parker page, we hope you will consider supporting our brave little soldier Parker in his battle xxx
