After a very successful event in 2014 Caring Matters Now and Click and Jump have teamed up to offer another tandem day at BPS Langar Airfield, to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
This skydive will see our team take to the skies and experience a thrilling, breathtaking 45 seconds of freefall reaching speeds in excess of 120mph, before the opening of the parachute and descending to cheers from family and friends.
Caring Matters Now is the only UK dedicated charity that supports people affected by Congenital Melanocytic Naevi (CMN), a rare disorder affecting the skin and brain.
CMN is an association of dark brown/black birthmarks (moles) which can cover up to 80% of the body.
CMN are mostly untreatable and carry an increased risk of malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
CMN syndrome is the association of these moles with neurological problems including brain tumours, spinal tumours, developmental complications, fluid on the brain and/or characteristic facial features.
Caring Matters Now works in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, funding the CMN research. The ultimate aim of the CMN research is to try to develop treatments for CMN, including the neurological complications and the devastating, fatal malignant melanoma.
The funds raised from this challenge will allow us to continue to support all those affected by CMN, provide emergency medical care for those given a fatal diagnosis and provide the much needed funding to further the pioneering CMN research headed up by Dr Kinsler at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Institute of Child Health London.
