So how did this all start? Well, basically, it started with a speculative email which filtered to colleagues in the Central Government and Defence and Communities Business Units at Interserve Support Services. The word spread quickly and at first it was all bravado...."I'll do it, count me in, where do I sign up?!!" One by one the "I'm up for it" crowd dropped like flies, some were bullied into joining and some conned into joining but soon we formed a tiny team of 20 Crazy Mudda Fuddas thinking "What have I done?!!"
For those of you that have never heard of Tough Mudder, it is a grueling 16km obstacle event with some serious obstacles. Mud, water...pfffttt....we are talking 30ft monkey bars, 12ft walls, electric shocks. This is not an event for the wimps. Some of us are fitter than others, some are undoubtedly fatter than others, one of two us are shorter than others (some shorter and fatter.....) but we are all going to start as a team and cross as a team representing Interserve Support Services. That means no-one will leave the small chinese guy struggling at the 4ft wall or the 1ft puddle!!! And yes, the CGD team will haul the Communities team out of the mud as we always do!!!
We've decided to donate all funds raised on this page to the Macmillan Cancer Support charity because we have all been touched and affected by family, friends, family friends, friend's friends, old and young that have suffered at the hands of this disease. We have seen the suffering and we know that the Macmillan Charity will put our hard earned funds to good effect, taking care of those that are heading towards their untimely last days. We want to know that we have tried to ensure the suffering suffer as little as possible.
We would ask all our friends and families to get behind each and every one of us and dig deep to help us reach and surpass our rather conservative target. Every penny counts and I'm sure for many of you the money will be worth seeing certain participants suffer......
