The Great North Challenge is a 4 way challenge taking place over 4 months with an aim to raise as much money as possible for The Christie Cancer Charity; supporting one of Europe's biggest cancer treatment & research facilities. It will involve:
The Great North Swim; a 1 mile open water swim in Lake Windermere on 13th June 2015
The Coast to Coast bike ride; a 150+ mile ride over 2 days, between Whitby & Blackpool on 4-5th July 2015
The National 3 Peak Challenge on 1st-2nd August 2015; Scotland's highest peak Ben Nevis, England's Scarfell Pike & Snowden in Wales. In brief this will involve 472miles driving, 26miles walking & 3000 metres (10,000ft) climbing...all within 24hours!
The Great North Run; Britains biggest half marathon on 13th September 2015.
The Great North Challenge is a concept conceived following the administrators London Marathon project in 2014, on behalf of The Christie & inspired by his friend Lewis Crookall who sadly died aged just 17years. Team Administrator, Craig, received an amazing amount of support in 2014 but soon realised that more could be done as part of a team, that can be achieved alone.
Hence, Craig & his friend/colleague Danny Holt will complete all 4 challenges but will also take a team of 15-20 amazing individuals who will complete one or more of the challenges with them. Each of these fantastic volunteers will either; have a direct connection to Lewis, will have their own unique stories/reasons as to why The Christie is important to them, will have previously fundraised for The Christie, or, simply wants to support Craig in making a difference towards a wonderful cause...
