We are from the University of Kent and we are fundraising for Mind. More and more people are coming forward with mental illnesses. Whilst this might be a sign of people becoming more willing to talk about their mental health, the problem still remains in that there are not enough provisions available to help. This is why we are fundraising for Mind.
This week is our University's student volunteering week, and our Raise and Give (RaG - our leading student group on fundraising) has been putting on fundraising activities each day. To finish off the week, they are launching our yearly Jailbreak challenge. This challenge involves getting as far away as possible from the University in 30 hours, without spending any money, with the idea of others sponsoring us for a charity of our choosing, depending on how far we go. We are due to set off 6am this Friday (24th February)!
Me and two others have formed the team "Mind over Matter" (Stylised as "MIND/MATTER") as we have seen how both our University's Counselling and Wellbeing Department and the NHS owned medical struggle seeing everyone, with waiting lists as long as 6 weeks. We want to fundraise for Mind who can help on a national scale in the fantasic work they do in providing training and support to people.
