Arnos Vale Cemetery is a Victorian cemetery in Bristol, and is undergoing significant restoration after being left derelict for many years. The cemetery has a stillbirth section but sadly graves remain unmarked. While many of the babies have been buried a very long time ago, some babies were still buried there as late as the 1970s. Their parents and families do not have a space to visit, nor a place to reflect.
Bristol Sands are supporting this restoration and wish to improve the stillbirth section by erecting a stone marker or monument in memory of all babies buried there. This will create a calm, respectful space for long ago bereaved parents to remember their babies in peace, offering much needed bereavement support.

All the funds raised will be designated for the purpose of Bristol Sands Arnos Vale Project. Once this project is fully funded and it’s £5,000 target reached, any excess will be spent where the need is greatest, helping Sands to continue to deliver its vital services to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, to improve the bereavement care received by parents and families, and to promote research to reduce the number of babies dying.
