Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

"The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon is one of the most demanding open-to-all endurance events on the planet...you’ll need rock solid technique honed to perfection by months of training. You'll need to plan. You'll need an excellent support crew. And for the race you'll need to calm the excitement and control your mind and body if you want to cross the finish line in Westminster".

www.dwrace.org.uk

The 'DW' involves paddling from Devizes Wharf in Wiltshire, to Westminster Bridge in London. We'll be doing this 125 mile trip straight through and the cut-off time is 30 hours. Along the way there are 77 portages where we have to carry the boat around locks or weirs.

The target time we have set ourselves is 22 hours. Judging on the times of the past two years we hope we can be the fastest university team, and win the University Challenge Trophy.

We decided to take on the challenge of the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race back in the summer and have been training since September clocking up over 70 miles in the boat so far. In preparation for the DW we are competing in two of the Waterside series races; one 13.5 miles in February and the other is 34 miles in March.

The University's High Performance Programme is supporting us with strength and conditioning programmes and nutrition plans.

As well as the challenge of aiming for the trophy, we're each raising money for our chosen charities; Alzheimer's Society and Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Please dig deep and donate now on our individual pages below, no matter how small. It's going to two fantastic charities and will really motivate us for the race.

Thanks,

Ash and Sam
