We've joined together to raise money for charity. You'll see our team fundraising target on the right. Your donation can really help us smash this goal:
Leanne decided to have a fundraising year. She wanted to support some different charities but needed some help to do this .... So asked some friends if they would ....and the response was magic...A few friends became the Pail Riders and Border Belles cyclists joined in too...All exciting !!! Thanks to all of them for giving up their time to help....
Our first team challenge is going to be cycling "The Mull Sportive", some are doing the 87 mile course and other's the 44 miles...Both routes have the killer hills...(with beautiful views) so our training is a challenge, especially up these border hills. We have a team of 20 cyclists beginners to experienced- making it happen. The Team are from USA, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and The Borders!!!!
We are determined to make it on the day!!!!!!! š²
Watch this space for other events we shall be running in the year.........
Read all about the charities below:
Rowan Boland Memorial Trust:
Rowan was a keen and enthusiastic sportsman who even at his young age had already played representative cricket for the Borders Under 11's. He would have had many opportunities to progress in his sport of choice and along with his love, passion and ability for cricket and other sports, he would undoubtedly have gone onto greater things as he grew older. Sadly, these opportunities have been taken from him but in his memory, the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust has been formed.
Rowan's Trust relies on fundraising to keep it going.
The Trust provides junior sports people, living in the Scottish Borders, with assistance to enable them to further their sporting careers, whatever their chosen sport. The Trust recognises the ever increasing financial burden of training and competing at the higher end of sport and offers financial assistance to juniors who have shown proven ability in their sport.
My daughter Alice Haining has been a receipent of this grant. It has helped her to purchase a new race boat for her sport - Canoe Slalom. Alice has reached international level and has made GB Team. Thankful for this support.
Breast Cancer Now ā”:
Are the leading breast cancer charity in Scotland and across the UK.
They seek to keep breast cancer at the top of the agenda through their policy and campaigning work here in Scotland. To influence the quality, provision of treatments and services for those with or at risk of breast cancer and do this by working closely with the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and other decision makers.
After some of us battling the challenge of having breast cancer and survived we are so pleased support this charity.
