The Crew of the Hamble Lifeboat annually take on challenges to raise awareness of what they do and the rescues they undertake voluntarily, but also to raise badly needed cash to help maintain the standard of the service.
Hamble is one of between 60 - 70 independantly maintained Lifeboats throughout the UK. These services still rely wholly on the generousity of their local Communities. None of them receive assistance from UK Government or from donations made to the RNLI.
Each crewmember requires very specialised training and equipment in order to carry out their duties.
