This September, the HSBC/KPMG Challenge Himalayas 2019 will bring together 70 HSBC and KPMG dedicated employees to trek 75 km through the spectacular landscapes of the Himachal Pradesh region in the Indian Himalayas, all whilst raising money for Conservation International and WaterAid. Participants from HSBC are raising funds for WaterAid – with the fund raised use to support WaterAid projects in India.
By helping our participants achieve their fundraising goals of USD500 each, you could transform lives by providing up to 25 people with access to clean water – improving health, access to education, and quality of life.
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are basic human rights. They should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere – but they aren't. Around the world, 1 in 9 people don’t have clean water close to home, and 1 in 3 don't have a decent toilet of their own.
WaterAid is an international NGO, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Without these three essentials, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.
WaterAid and HSBC have been partnered since 2012 through the HSBC Water Programme, which was launched to help tackle the global water crisis. Now an eight-year $150 million programme, the impact of its work has been far-reaching; the HSBC Water Programme has reached 1.68 million people with clean water and over 2.58 million with sanitation in six focus countries – Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Ghana and Nigeria.
