We are running the 2018 London Marathon in memory of Jo Hordle, and to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. TCT fund the Teenage and Young Adult wards who supported Jo, her family and friends throughout.
The TYA ward in Southampton General Hospital is designed to provide help and support for young people with cancer. The ward has spacious rooms for inpatients that allow visitors to stay, as well as a social space, so friends and family can visit in a more relaxed environment. They provide nurses and support workers, which all become like family. Jo was always made to feel safe and comfortable on the TYA ward during her long spells as an inpatient, and without the TCT this difficult time would have been so much harder. We have seen first-hand the amazing care and support all the doctors and nurses provide, and we would just like to give a little back.
