Our Kayak Channel Challenge

Team photo

What do a retired footballer from Chigwell and a Ski-Instructor from St.Albans have in common?

Absolutely nothing! - Except for the ultimate challenge they are about to embark on (and of course being good friends).

We have teamed up to paddle the Channel, starting in England and finishing in France, in a Kayak each - to help raise money for causes close to our hearts.

Joe is raising money for Richard House Children's Hospice based in East London. Richard House provides 24 hour specialist care and support for babies, children and young adults who have life-shortening, life-limiting or complex health conditions. Alongside their key services of respite, palliative and end of life care, they also provide holistic services such as music, dance, movement and art therapy, multi-sensory play, family activities, outings and bereavement support. They have provided care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families for 20 years. Their services have been available free of charge to around 300 families each year across London.

Dave is raising money through Tree of Hope, who help raise & manage funds for medical treatment, therapy & equipment for sick & disabled children, for his Son Will. Will suffers from Cerebral Palsy and is quadriplegic.  He is 11 years old and has already undergone surgery and various other procedures at Great Ormond Street Hospital, to ease his condition. Will is unable to walk or carry out any physical transfers, and needs 24 hour support and extensive therapy. His condition can be uncomfortable from the moment he wakes up, but he embraces life with true joy. Will now faces operations on his knees and ankles to try to reduce deformities that are developing.  Dave is hoping to raise funds to support providing post-operative therapy to Will, along with other equipment that is needed for Will's day-to-day care.

Please check out our individual pages for more information around our chosen causes.

This is going to be harder than anything we have ever done as we attempt to cross a total distance of 21.5 miles! The journey will be gruelling but the wet, cold and pain will all be worth it once we are standing shoulder to shoulder on a beach in France having just completed our maiden kayak voyage.

Anything you can give will make a huge difference for both Will and the children of Richard House.

Thank you for your donation and we ask you to please spread the word to your friends and family.
