Plod for Parkinson’s and PSP was created by Flora and Ellie, two school friends. We both have family members affected by Parkinson’s Disease and PSP, and so rather than just sitting back and doing nothing, we have decided to challenge oursleves to raise awareness and fund for Parkinson’s Disease and PSP research.
On September 1st we are going to start walking from Palermo to Agrigento, along the ancient Magna Via Francigena (MVF).
Over the course of our 20 year friendship, we have travelled together a lot - many times to Italy. This is probably due to our love of good food, great weather and amazing scenery.
Ellie moved to Sicily in 2014, and so Flora has visited many times since. After hearing about the Magna Via Francigena, we thought this is would be an incredible experience for both of us and would be a great way to help raise money for two important causes.
Flora will be raising money for PSP research.Ellie will be raising money for Parkinson’s UK.
The walk will take nine days, and will take us through over 180 kms of beautiful countryside in some very hot weather! We are worried about blisters, sun stroke and wild dogs, but we can’t wait for the gorgeous Sicilian countryside, the warm and friendly locals we hope to meet and the unforgettable memories we will create.
Join us on our adventure south. We know it’s going to be difficult, but we are ready to get started. Your support will keep us going through all of the highs and lows that we expect on our journey.
We really appreciate any contribution. Please see our individual fundraising pages below.
