As founding members of a small team of Sixth Formers, from King Edward VI School, Southampton. We have set ourselves the challenge of becoming the first to circumnavigate the Isle of Wight, by pedalo: a true endurance challenge. With the attempt this Thursday, final preperation is well under way!
We have chosen two important charities to support, Cystic Fibrosis UK and The Hamble Lifeboat. Thank you for all your support and we look forward to attempting this 50 mile trip in a couple of days.
The Hamble Lifeboat, is a volunteer-driven charity that provides an invaluable service, rescuing over 100 people each year in the Central Solent area. As it is not part of the RNLI, this lifeboat service relies solely on local fundraising. So we thought it appropriate to support this important organisation, particularly considering the nature of our challenge!
We are also raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the leading charity funding research to treat the illness in the UK. Over recent months we have been delighted to team up with Tim Wotton, who as an award-winning author, former England hockey player and previous pupil of our school, is one of the oldest survivors of the crippling disease. A story of triumph over adversity.
We urge you to donate equally to both charities as this will keep our donations even to hopefully reach our goal of £2500 for each charity!
Any support will be greatly appreciated.
