Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit Japan, which caused a huge tsunami. The damage in the Tohoku-area is catastrophic, sadly at least 10,000 people are missing or presumed dead. Millions of survivors remain without electricity. About 310,000 people have been evacuated to emergency shelters.
Japan has been one of the biggest donors of foreign aid and so I believe that this is the time to support Japan, just like they have supported so many other countries in need.
It is frustrating that we cannot help them physically but there must be something what we could do from outside Japan.
This is why we decided to set up a RUN FOR JAPAN campaign. Our aim is to run, with your help, 1000km. We would very much like you to join our RUN FOR JAPAN team! The idea is that you run (or walk) a chosen distance and then get people to make a donation to GlobalGiving via the 1000km RUN FOR JAPAN page (or set up your own page linked to the RUN FOR JAPAN page). Tell us how much you have run and we will add it to our running total :-). We ran 61km last week to start it off. It's still far away to finish but there will be a lot more to come.
Upcoming event:
We are going to organise a group RUN FOR JAPAN running/walking event, which we will email you about soon. This is going to be the perfect opportunity for us to all run together to show our support to Japan. We think it is going to be a 12km circular route along the river Thames, which can be shortened to 7km, if you would prefer (and you can also walk it as well). We would love you to join us for this event and get people to sponsor you at the same time!
Please make a small donation (even just a couple of pounds) , or you could join our team and run with us, contributing to our goal to achieve 1000km.
Once again, thanks for you time.
