Hello! And thanks for visiting the Team Schottelvig fundraising page.
On 3rd May, nine of us from the Schottelvig clan (ably supported both back home and en route by our remaining family members) are set to cycle from London to Paris over 3 gruelling days to raise money for 2 great causes - Macmillan Cancer Support and Born to Fly.
Macmillan will already be known to many of you. They provide hugely important physical, emotional and financial support to people affected by cancer, helping all those affected to live life as fully as they can.
Born to Fly is a charity set up in memory of our great family friend Captain Roger Gower. Roger was a helicopter pilot who worked for many years in Kenya and Tanzania tracking elephant poachers and playing a big part in East African wildlife conservation. In 2016 Roger tragically died when his helicopter was shot down by a poacher he was tracking. Born to Fly raises money to develop schools in East Africa which provide vital education and skills training to children who otherwise have limited prospects of earning a livelihood and may be tempted to turn to poaching.
If you would like to donate to either or both of these very worthwhile causes you can click through on the individual pages below, where there is also more information on each charity.
We will keep you updated on our training, progress and who sprint finishes down the Champs-Élysées... 3 May isn't very far away!
Thank you so much,
Team Schottelvig x
