Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page!
We've joined together to raise money through Tree of Hope. To give one incredible little boy, Theo Hunt (age 3) The chance to walk!
Theo has spastic diplegia, meaning his leg muscles are tight due to damage to his brain, which occured when his twin brother Gabriel passed away in utero at 27 weeks gestation.
There is a highly advanced, once in a lifetime neurological operation available hich was pioneered in America, St Louis' Children's hopital and has very recently come to the UK. But it is not available on the NHS. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR)
It involves going into Theo's spinal cord, exposing the spinal rootlets, dividing the good uneffected nerves from the bad spastic ones, and cutting the bad. Leaving Theo with no spasticity in his legs anymore and then dedicated long term physiotherapy to help him walk like you or I.
This is the only chance Theo will have to independantly walk. He is a strong, outgoing, determined little boy who never lets his disability stand in his way. But he would love above everything to go to the park and kick a football around with his big brother.
So please join and set up challenges etc, no matter how big or small and lets all help fulfill THEO'S WISH TO WALK!
