Watching the images of families drowning in the Mediterranean sea, or freezing in make-shift camps across Europe, having fled from unimaginable terror, we have felt horrified, yet helpless. This is a practical way to make a real difference, providing a safe route for a refugee family to resettle in the UK.
WHO ARE WE, AND WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We're a group of concerned people who live and/or work in East London. We have committed to support a refugee family to resettle in London. This is part of a wider Community Sponsorship scheme, established by the Home Office. Read more here: http://www.sponsorrefugees.org/
As part of our commitment, we need to:
- Raise £12,000. Please give what you can!
- Find a home in East London (minimum 2 bedroom) rented at, or close to the cost of housing benefits - with a minimum 2 year contract
- Support their transition to life in the UK.
