Snowdonia Charity Challenge · 13 June 2015 ·

Regain is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the independence of all British men & women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sporting or leisure accident. A tetraplegic is unable to walk and has limited reach & dexterity because use of the arms is severely impaired.

Story

Life can change in a split second and that's exactly what happened to Alex Jones (aka Stig) in September 2011.

When Alex and Andi were facing huge challenges to adapt to his injury, REGAIN were there to offer advice and support. 3 years later they are still helping and are going to partially fund a new off road trike for Alex.

On average 40 to 60 people each year suffer complete or partial paralysis affecting all 4 limbs as a result of a sporting accident. That's 40 to 60 people that need help each year on top of existing people who have the condition. The charity REGAIN is there to help them.

Andi and Alex wanted to do something to thank REGAIN for the help they have received, so Andi volunteered some of her friends to do the Snowdonia Challenge!! Only joking Andi.....

So, on the 13th JUNE 2015 a merry gang of 16 of us in 4 teams of 4 are going to do the challenge! And it's not easy!

First it's 20 miles on a bike, then a 3.72 mile walk/crawl/climb with 2,900 ft height gain to the summit of Snowdon, then a walk/fall back down it, then another 10 miles or so on the bikes, then a canoe round a lake of around 1.5 miles, then back on the bikes for the last 10 miles or so which includes a 2.5 mile uphill steep rough track! Phew!

Teams of 4 have to stay together and normally take between 6 and 11 hours to complete the challenge. Hopefully the pub will still be open by the time we finish....

We want to do this to give something back to such a great charity who were such a great help to Alex and Andi in their time of need.

If you can donate to help us achieve our target (£2,000 per team), we will be very very grateful! Every little helps!

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Love and respect.

Team Stig 2015

NOTE: Justgiving takes it's fees from the giftaid it claims from the government which means all the money you send goes to the charity. If you are someone that cannot claim gift aid (a company for example), and want to donate outside of justgiving to avoid their fees, please contact me (Tony) on 07789 907219 or toneandkel@yahoo.co.uk   I will be keeping a record of all donations received outside of justgiving and will update the amount donated offline on this page so it comes off the target (called offline donations). This also applies to those who have cash donations. Please keep me updated with your total.
