Story
In 2004, just months before this picture was taken, we were told that Joshua (then aged 5) has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This was a devastating shock to us all, to learn that this happy little boy would need a wheelchair very soon, and of how this condition would continue relentlessly to waste every muscle. Joshua is now 10 and time is not on his side.
2 children in the UK are born with Duchenne every week and most are out of the blue with no previous family history. This can and does strike any family, there is currently no treatment to tackle this.
BUT research is offering new hope, with 2 drugs currently on trial here in the UK. Many promising research projects need funding, we believe the answers to Duchenne are out there; how quickly we find them is, to a large degree, dependent on funding.
On 24th May, Joshua and his 3 siblings will be doing a sponsored walk in Hereford. They will be joined by other children and families wishing to support our cause. Some will toddle 100 meters, some will walk 400 metres, some are even doing so tied together 3 - legged style! All to raise vital funds to help us find a treatment for Duchenne. The event will be rounded off with a teddy bears picnic and some fun activities!
Please show your support for all their wonderful efforts by sponsoring them here.
