Story
Hi everyone. I made a vow to myself at the end of 2016 that I'd continue to challenge myself in 2017 and beyond, even though I was returning to my 'normal' lifestyle after a wonderful year of new experiences. Taking on a half marathon is one of these challenges and one that, if I'm honest, seems kinda crazy...
Running 13.1 miles is not going to be easy for me. I'm not a natural runner and I don't even enjoy running that much! - BUT - what I do enjoy is raising money for good causes, and Jamie's Farm is certainly one of those. It enables groups of vulnerable young people from challenging, inner-city schools to spend a week in the Wiltshire countryside where a combination of ‘farming, family and therapy’ helps to re-engage them with educational life. This in turn supports them to fulfil their potential, both in school and within a wider social setting.
Jamie's Farm shows time and time again that, after their time on the farm, these groups of young people show improved relationships, behaviour and engagement with school. There are some fantastic videos of the impact of Jamie's Farm here: https://www.youtube.com/user/JamiesFarm/videos
(Also, and nerdily important for me, Jamie's Farm are fantastic fundraisers! - very inspiring in their vision and communication of that vision, very supportive of those who fundraise for them and proactive at securing new support. It's a real pleasure to be doing this for them).
So, if you can spare even a small amount, please do pop a donation on my page. I'm truly grateful to everyone who donates, because I know I often ask for support for various endeavours. You are all very kind!
Thank you so much.
