Story

UPDATE 31/08/20: As I'm sure can probably be guessed, the official Manchester Marathon has been pushed back to 2021 due to Covid restrictions. I ran the Marathon distance in my backyard at the start of lockdown on the date the event would have taken place, and I'm aiming to run another around October this year (when the rescheduled event would have been taking place had it not been delayed again), and potentially go for an Ultramarathon along the way. Still hoping to raise as much as I can for victims of terrorism through the Red Cross so please do keep the donations coming. Thank you!

Hi Folks,

As some of you will know, back in March 2017 I was seriously injured in the Westminster Bridge terror attack in London. I spent six months on crutches and a walking stick, and about a year and a half in physiotherapy, but was fortunate enough to make a full recovery.

The Red Cross assists british victims of terrorism through their 'UK Solidarity Fund', it helps support them with any costs that may emerge with being involved in an attack like this - this can include for example time out of work, or to help pay for medical treatment not available under the NHS. They helped me to pay for extensive physical therapy and I can honestly say I probably wouldn't be where I am today without their help. They've helped victims from every attack following Westminster, including helping set up the We Love Manchester fund and responding to the most recent attack on London Bridge.

So in a moment of weakness I thought it'd be a good idea to sign up to the Manchester Marathon - I only started running a couple of months ago so it's going to be a hell of a challenge, and anything you can donate to egg me on would be appreciated! I've covered all the entry costs and everything so anything we do manage to raise will go straight to the fund.

Best,

Travis
