Story
The £1 challenge on this page was started as a way to encourage my followers on Twitter to donate £1 towards the Syria appeal.
Together with the help of my friends, the response has been incredible.
God knows best, however, when I heard about the upsetting news of our brother Ahsan Jalil passing (may God bestow blessings upon his soul) I was overwhelmed and deeply affected.
A decision was made to donate £1000 of the money raised to build a well in the name of Ahsan Jalil.
But after some deliberation we decided to raise money for a well to be established in Ahsan Jalil's name.
The cost of the water well is £10,000 ($16,000 USD) for construction and setup, after which it will cost 50p (per litre of diesel) per hour to sustain the well.
In 1 minute, the well can pump 85 litres of water, resulting in approximately 5,000 litres of water per hour.
The well runs for 3 hours at a time, twice a day, filling up a total of 30,000 litres of water a day.
With the population of the Qah Refugee Camp at 20,000, each person in the camp receives 1.5 litres of water daily for their essential needs.
No doubt this will increase the blessings on the part of Ahsan Jalil, as well as improve the quality of life of our sisters and brothers in Syria.
Donate now and be a part of this life-changing cause.
I will miss you Ahsan.
May God grant Ahsan the highest abode in Heaven.
