Fern is my youngest of three daughters, beautiful, adorable and very cheeky. After a big seizure at three years old Fern was diagnosed with Alexander disease, a very rare and cruel brain illness that is gradually robbing her of all the skills that she fought so hard to gain.
Last year she started to decline, became very poorly, suffered vertigo, headaches and severe dystonia ( muscle spasms). She lost her ability to walk and to swallow safely (now tube fed). Her neck is in constant spasm, meaning she cannot lift her head.
We were absolutely thrilled to meet our target for the Mollii suit, funded by the Dorset children’s foundation, Forum jewellers, St. John’s school and many generous friends and family who donated to her page. This suit will help with spasticity and help her control her movements, greatly improving her quality of life.
We are continuing to raise funds for much needed therapy, therapy equipment and medical equipment to enable Fern to reach her potential and also remain comfortable. We are hoping to also buy Fern a new wheelchair that is more suited to her needs, as well as giving her some independence back.
We are truly grateful for your support.
