Story
This is my attempt, to show you all, how an unfit lady of 40 can get out there and raise money for a good cause.
Martin was given a diagnosis of MND at the end of May 2009. The progression of the disease was the fastest the health professionals had seen in years. Although orginally given a prognosis of 2-3 years, he died peacefully at home on the 1st December 2009.
The support we received from the NHS and Home care teams, as well as Marie Curie Cancer Care and MND Scotland was immense. The problem is that very little is known about MND, it's labelled as a No Cause, No Cure disease, which means all the professionals can do is to give the person with the disease as much quality of life as the disease progresses.
In order to help those diagnosed with vital equipment that will make their day to day living as comfortable as possible, and to fund research in to finding a cure for this terminal disease, MND Scotland needs a lot of money every year. This includes providing specialist nurses, equipment, day centres and support for applying for benefits.
What can I say? Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far, both on-line and off-line. As you can see by the amount raised, you all did me proud. The run went well, although I didn't run very much, but I did manage to get around in 1 hour 35 minutes. I'll be collecting off-line sponsor money over the course of the next few weeks. (pay day soon so no excuses). Looking forward to next year, although I might be hard pushed to guilt you all in to donating.
This is for Martin, the man I will love all my life.
Thank you
