Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit myJustGiving page.

I wanted to do something special for my fiftieth. I was planning to cut my hair and then I had the idea that I could make dolls and put my hair on their heads. That's how 'The Kind Project' started.

'The Kind Project' is a celebration of the female form. A reminder that we need no judgement, no criticism, no correction. The bombardment on women’s bodies that our society is continually serving starts early when we are small children and gets inside our heads. Our size, our shape, our skin, our colour, our hair, our age, everything about us come under this harsh scrutiny. Given all this, it’s hard to remember, or sometimes to even know, how to feel good about ourselves and each other.

The Kind Project is my small way of affirming that each one of us are fine just the way we are. Each of the 50 dolls is completely unique and has been made as a symbol to their owner that the female form is always something to respect and celebrate, to remind us to be kind and to cherish ourselves and each other. And the money raised will go to FORWARD, a charity dedicated to supporting women having to face the harshest challenges and to ending the greatest crime committed against the female form - Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

So you can either donate from £5 and enter the raffle with a chance to win one of the fifty dolls. Or if you have your heart set on a certain doll you can buy one outright, starting from £30. To raise the £2500 I'm aiming for would mean each doll is £50, but I wanted to make them as affordable as possible to everyone so if you can manage more than the starting price that would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully things will even out!

They will also make the most wonderful Christmas presents! Each one has a loop sewn on the back so they can hang up easily. Please leave your details if you want to be in the raffle. Every time £50 is raised a doll will be given away!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
