It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Birmingham Children's Hospital provides a wide range of general and specialist health services to children and adolescents in the West Midlands and beyond. The hospital enjoys a national and international reputation in areas including liver transplantation, cardiac surgery and neonatal surgery. Please help it continue to improve children's lives.

At 892 metres (2,927 feet) the pillar is the eighth highest mountain in the Lake District. Dave Hughes, Spencer Bevis and Zoe Atkinson will be climbing the pillar on Saturday 26th June 2010 in a bid to raise as much money for Birmingham Children's Hospital as they possibly can and are calling on anyone and everyone for some much needed support.

The trio will be making the climb in memory of baby 'Harry McKenzie' who tragically, was stillborn to Droitwich couple Lewis & Vicky McKenzie in January this year. Dave Hughes says 'Sadly we cannot change what happened to baby Harry, but with everyone's support we can hopefully make a difference to children who may find themselves needing care in the Children's Hospital, after all, they are all our future'.

Paul & Joanne Bowers know all too well how important it is to keep the fundraising momentum going for the Children's Hospital as their daughter Sophie has had to pay regular visits since she was born. Brave little Sophie is only 16 months old and was born with 'Transposition of great arteries', Patent ductus arteriosus' and 'Atrial septal defect' and has already had 3 operations. Paul & Joanne have since discovered that their son Luke, who will be 5 in July, also suffers fron 'Atrial septal defect' and is currently undergoing more tests.

As you can appreciate, every penny really does count.

Droitwich Garage Ltd on Kidderminster Road are generously loaning the three a Land Rover for the event.
