Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

From the 25th to the 27th June 2015, 4 of the potentially more insane members of the BDO Scotland team will be climbing the 5 peaks, situated throughout the U.K., in 55 gruelling hours. So that's:

Peak

Height

Snowdon (Wales)

3,560ft

Helvellyn (England)

3,120ft

Ben Nevis (Scotland)

4,409ft

Slieve Donard (Northern Ireland)

2,790ft

Carrauntoohil (Republic of Ireland)

3,406ft

Total

17,285ft

To put into scale the size of the task the team will climb a combined elevation of 17,285ft… that’s 5,268 metres or half a munro higher than Mont Blanc for those counting.

The challenge is to complete all climbs within 55 hours including all travel between the mountains – John will be the safe pair of hands speeding (not literally) the climbers to their next ascent.  That’s no mean feat in itself with approx. 990 miles to get from the start to the finish, an estimated another 22 hours of driving (roughly 4 - 6 hours between each peak) plus a ferry journey of between 2 and 3.5 hours (Stranraer – Belfast).

It’s going to be epic.  And probably smelly.  Please give as generously as you can to help us meet our fundraising target. We are supporting Wooden Spoon, the grant-making charity founded in 1983 and dedicated to making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

So please dig deep and donate now.
