Through this page I'd like to raise money for the Alzheimer Society by running the Sheffield and San Francisco half marathons.

 

San Francisco Marathon has always been on the list of things to do before I die (next to Melbourne and Tokyo Marathons and trekking to Mount Everest base camp). I think its good to have dreams that are challenging, yet realistic. I will be running the 1st half marathon which is 21 kilometers/13 miles (not the full marathon) at 5.30 in the morning on the 31.July 2011 - I should be able to see the sunrise while I run over the Golden Gate bridge! (so please pray there will be none of the famous San Francisco fog that morning!)

With this run I would like to raise money for the Alzheimers society. 1 in 3 people will suffer with Alzheimers desease after the age of 65 so I think its important to fund care and research to be able to treat this condition.(and you never know, we might need their support too one day :) Since the Alzheimers society is mostly based in Sheffield within the UK, we will thus support a local cause as well.

Since I myself went through a heavy surgery after a severe food poisoning in 2002, I would like to not just raise money for medical research and care which saves lives, but also to show people with similar condition that it is possible to overcome it. All you need to do is to be persistent to want to get healthy, eat well, do sport and have a positive frame of mind.
