Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Short and sweet. Thanda is a charity which has been setup by two personal friends of mine who I studied with. It is a fantastic cause, and one that I strongly believe in.
Thanda and Thanda After School were founded to support children in need. Determined to fight the destructive impact HIV/AIDS and poverty are having on the rural areas of South Africa, the project is today supporting 325 children daily and is working to bring hope to thousands more children as a model for community change.
THANDA’s unique approach to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS is about developing sustainable solutions to ongoing issues in rural Africa. Throughlocal capacity building and collaboration, Thanda empowers people to become problem solvers in their own community.
Thanda’s interventions produce tangible, positive change over time and are actually working to develop Africa’s FUTURE LEADERS.
A bit about me. A year after suffering a horrendous challenge in a football league, and being diagnosed with three full knee ligament tears (aka unhappy triad), I have been on the long road to recovery without surgical intervention. It is now clear I require surgery to continue with my active lifestyle and contact sports, which is confirmed for one week after the Triathlon.
Signing up for the triathlon was the first thing I did following my injury. I have seen this not only as an opportunity to keep me motivated and in training, but more importantly, an opportunity to raise funds for a great cause. I have dug deep, now I ask you to dig deep and help me compete in an event for a worthwhile cause.
